Summary
Starting September 10, 2026, Workflows created on the Workers Paid plan retain completed and errored instance state for seven days by default, down from 30 days, to reduce storage costs. Existing Workflows are unaffected.
What changed
New Workflows on Workers Paid now default to seven-day retention of completed and errored instance state, previously 30 days.
Why it matters
Durable execution state is a growing cost center as agentic and long-running workloads proliferate on Workers. Trimming default retention lowers baseline storage spend but shortens the built-in audit and replay window, so teams running compliance-sensitive agent workflows must now set retention explicitly.
